Kelly Clarkson Book Launch Event
Tonight was one for the record books!
I covered the book launch event for one of my favorite human beings on the planet, Kelly Clarkson.
After her (wildly entertaining) Q&A, she signed copies of her debut book, River Rose And The Magical Lullaby. She didn’t do press interviews, but we had the opportunity to meet her.
I felt silly standing in line with a bunch of little kids and their mommies, so when I approached her my opening line was: “I feel like such a dork right now!” She laughed and made fun of herself too. I then launched into how yesterday was the release day of my debut book too, and I presented her with a copy of Ten Years Later.
Her eyes widened and she exclaimed: “Dang, but you wrote a BOOK!” I quickly told her the premise and explained how it was an honor to give her a copy, given how much of an influence her music has been on me. She thanked me and said how the book could “totally be a movie!” I said, “I agree, but read it and let me know!”
I congratulated her on her new baby, we shook hands, and wished each other luck. She, her husband and entourage were very sweet despite me being a bumbling idiot.
The journey of releasing #TYL has been a rollercoaster ride of major highs and lows, but the fact that it all came together at the perfect time for our releases to coincide (almost) makes the craziness worth it. I have no idea if Kelly will read it, but here’s hoping!
